With twenty years plus experience of being a Tour Operator we have brought together all that knowledge and compiled what we call The Ultimate Trip. This is a three week trip covering three different regions, we understand not everybody can take such a long period time off work or be away from the family unless you live the other side of the world, I guess. Nevertheless we have taken that into consideration and clients can cherry pick , whichever week best fits them , may that be 1 ,2 or even 3 weeks.
We specialise in Italy for numerous reasons , great locations , fantastic family run hotels , superb food and wine and we are cyclists and know how to look after cyclists. In addition my family live just outside Treviso in the Prosecco Wine Region and I have a lot of experience of riding in Italy, with 45 Grand Fondo’s under my wheels and many custom trips for customers.
We have put this trip together that may well take in a possible once in a lifetime Giro d’Italia stage. Cycle fans may think there have been many great stages and close finishes which is true, this stage will be something special. I have had it on good authority from my business contacts in the Bormio area that the Giro’s – 2025 LAST stage will FINISH at the top of the Stelvio Pass – it doesn’t get any better that that ! Just imagine GC contenders battling it our for the Maglia Rosa , others for the minor jerseys plus riders in the Groupetto trying to make the cut on the last day, something will be happening all over the pass.
We have put together our three week schedule with details of each area , climbs , hotels and what to expect in terms of riding. This trip has NOT been designed as a training camp or for riders to rip each others legs off, it’s a great cycling holiday, for enjoyment, don’t forget if you fancy a day off from riding that’s cool with us, we are not here to pressure clients into riding every pass every day, take time out to relax, re-charge your legs, take in the local shops and area.

Week 1 – Bormio
For some riders Bormio is often regarded as the ultimate location for cycling, all I can say is come and join us and find out for yourself. The town has on numerous occasions hosted the Giro, may that be finishing or passing through, here are just three reasons why the Giro visits the area so often , Stelvio , Mortirolo and Gavia.
The Stelvio is 2758 meters, 21km and 49 turns with an average gradient of 7%. It has seen many thrilling battles for the Maglia Rosa taking place over the years. I have personally climbed the Stelvio over a dozen times and each journey has been a magical experience. The climb has an average of 7%, as you reach circa half way there’s one short section of 14% just before the “10k Cafe” after which it eases for a while at about 3% – 5% before the final 3km being a leg sapping 8%-10%, a journey to remember.
The Gavia is just over 2600 meters high, literally next door to the Stelvio and is no picnic and 25km from the Bormio side. Personally I think it’s harder than the Stelvio not just because it’s circa 4km longer but it just feels it. This pass became even more famous when Andy Hampstem crested in 3rd place in the blistering snow to become the first and only American to go on and win the Giro.
Last but not least the Mortirolo which is circa 1850m with a number of routes up it, but no matter which way you go up it it’s a beast ! It may not be as high as other passes in the area by a long way but from personal experience it’s so much harder. It’s circa 12km and I am sure it does not drop below 8% and often punches up to 17% and 18% – it’s tough, but when you reach the top it’s totally magical and satisfying.
These are not the only passes that make this area the place to go, here’s a few more , Umbrail , Stelvio from Prato, Foscango , Cancano and Bormio 2000 all waiting for you to tick off your bucket list. All these passes are fantastic in their own way , taking you above 2000 meters bar one.
We will be staying in the heart of Bormio at an excellent 4 star family run hotel that being Palace Hotel. It has a wellness centre and pool for you to relax in after a day in the saddle. I have stayed at this hotel over 50 nights and cannot fault it, so join us and discover Bormio.
Week 2 – Corvara
Corvara – wow what a location and the home of the 2nd oldest Gran Fondo – Maratona. The area is invaded by cyclists on many occasions throughout the year and it’s perfectly made for them, with hotels geared up ( no pun intended ) to cater for the cyclist of today. The most famous route used in the area is called “Sellaronda” , this route is circa 60km and is used as the short route of the Maratona. It takes in four passes and is basically up and down with no valley road to recover. The passes are in order of a clockwise route , Campalongo , Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella and finally finishing off with the Passo Gardena then dropping down into Corvara to your hotel.
Having taken on these passes , here’s are a few more for you to get your teeth in to Passo Falzargo ( 2117m) , Passo Valparola ( 2192m ) , Passo Fedaia ( 2057m ) , Passo Erb ( 1987m ) , Passo Giau ( 2236m ) – just to name a few to get your legs turning ! – With all these routes / climbs in the area it gives you a great chance to cycle over to one of the most famous ski resorts – Cortina. As you can see Corvara has it all. Our hotel of choice is Hotel Capella (5 Star) if open at the time or Hotel La Majun. (4s Star)
Week 3 – Prosecco Wine Region (Treviso)
This region is stunning, it may not have the famous climbs like Bormio or Corvara but it’s a fantastic area to ride your bike. Although the climbs are lesser known they will still test your legs without a shadow of a doubt and have been featured in the Giro, Passo San Boldo , Cal de Poggio , Monte Cesan and in 2024 the Monte Grappa.
When riding in the region you will be treated to some of the most stunning views whilst cutting through the Prosecco Vineyards. I am very familiar with the area as my family live in the heart of the region and I have had many years of enjoyable riding. We will be staying in the centre of Pieve di Soligo at Hotel Conta which is an excellent 4 star hotel. Whilst here we will be organising a day off the bike with a trip to Villa Sandi the largest producer of Prosecco and sponsors of the GF Prosecco. In addition some may say while we are enjoying the region it would be wrong not to visit the Pinarello shop (just outside Treviso) which is about a flat 75 mins ride from our hotel, so this area has a lot to offer the cyclist of today.
Due to the options we are offering on this trip we have detailed which airport you will need to fly into and out off and the times the transfer leaves the Airport and Hotel (return). On all occasions the coach leaves the Airport at 13:30 , so please be through customs by 13:00 , on return the coach leaves at 10:30. We shall be at the airports with a sign to meet you all.
