Come and join us for what will be an amazing twin location trip. We will have the chance to watch two stages of the most exciting Gran Tour – The Giro d’italia. Our first stage sees the Pros cutting through the Prosecco Wine Region and Treviso and then we will see the ultimate stage which takes the Pros over the 18km Monte Grappa climb TWICE. If the Maglia Rosa is still up for grabs then this stage will be a classic and be set in Giro history for ever and a day. I have detailed below the plan for this two centre trip and hope it’s mouth watering enough to say “I AM IN” – Please note we can adjust this schedule on a daily basis , but this is a good guide.
When booking flights please note you fly into Marco Polo and fly out of Milan Malpensa Terminal 1
The trip covers – 22/5/2024 to 3/6/2024 – 12 Nights 13 days – Half Board

We will greet you @ Marco Polo Airport , please be through customs by 13:00 as the coach/mini bus leaves @ 13:30. It’s approximately a 60 minute transfer to Hotel Loris in Pieve Di Soligo this is the town my family live in so I know the area.
After check in , unpack , relax , build bikes and shower we will have a drink in the bar before dinner at 19:30 and a chat about the next day riding
We have 4 possible locations where we can see the Giro pass through and my suggestion would be Treviso which is circa 104km into the stage, this gives us a chance to ride local climb (Passo San Boldo) before we ride into the City Centre of Treviso and visit the Pinarello show room should you want to.
Passo San Boldo Climb
Today is a Giro free day , giving us a chance to ride the local area with a chance to take on the Monte Cesan and the Cal del Poggio (the latter used in the Giro a couple of times)

Today is a big day for the Giro where the Maglia Rosa may well be decided , there will be fireworks , we are about 45km from the climb so an easy ride out. The riders will take on a double ascent of the Monte Grappa. We have a couple of options we can stay on the mountain pass and watch the riders come over twice or we can watch them once and then ride down to the finish , the only snag with this latter option may be an issue of be closed – we can review this closer the time. Here’s the profile of the days stage of the Giro
Today is a relaxing morning before we have a coach/mini bus transfer to Bormio this is about a 300km transfer so a midway stop will take place ! On arrival we will check in , sort our bikes out and get ready for dinner at 19:30 – should you want to stretch your legs the main town is a left out of the hotel and a 1km walk if that.
Our first day in Bormio so a gentle bedding in , we will ride up to the Cancano Lake topping out at 1956m and covering just 8.5km. There’s a good cafe at the top with breath taking views, after that if we are feeling keen we can climb Bormio 2000 up to the Ski Station , below are the two climbs profile.

Todays climb will be up the Passo Foscango , as you can see from the profile it’s not a killer climb , it’s not until 8km that it starts to bite, it’s just a steady 23km climb. We will go over the top into Switzerland towards Livigno for lunch and then return back up into Italy and then down into Bormio.
Profile of Passo Foscango
Today , I regard this is a tough day , climbing the Gavia from Bormio, it’s a 24km climb which objective is to drain your energy which it does. When approaching the top you will see the Cafe , ignore it and go onto the 2nd cafe (1km more) for cyclists. Depending how we feel we can go over the top and have a long loop round to get back to Bormio. If we opt for this additional route we will need lights as over the top of the Gavia there’s a tunnel and last time I knew it was not lit.
Profile of the Passo Gavia
Here we have two options , a rest day or a roll down the valley and take on the Mortirolo from the easier route (if there is such a thing !) – we will not take on the climb from the side of the event.
Profile of Mortirolo
Today we will select a climb that we have not taken on or one riders may want to do again , so we will chat about at dinner on Thursday at dinner.
Today we will ride down to the sign on for the Gran Fondo and collect our race pack , the remainder of the day is a rest day as you will have the Gran Fondo to ride the day after. Plus we can visit a local clothing shop that gives you discount as your with me !
Today is the Gran Fondo day , breakfast will be served early for riders , if your not riding there will also be breakfast at normal time.
