🚴♂️ Milan–San Remo — The “La Classicissima”
The Milan–San Remo is one of the most famous one-day races in professional cycling and is part of the prestigious Monuments—the five biggest classics in the sport.
📍 Key Facts
- First held: 1907
- Distance: ~290 km (one of the longest one-day races)
- Location: Starts in Milan and finishes in San Remo
- When: Usually mid-March (often considered the start of the classics season)
- Nickname: La Classicissima (“The Classic of Classics”)
🗺️ Race Profile
Despite its huge distance, the route is not extremely mountainous—making it unique:
- Early section: flat across northern Italy
- Mid-race: rolling terrain along the Ligurian coast
- Final decisive climbs:
- Cipressa
- Poggio di San Remo (the key launchpad for attacks)
After the Poggio, there’s a fast descent and a short run-in to the finish.
100km Sportive Details
The full distance Sportive of circa 296km takes place mid year , never the less you will have the chance to experience taking on the important climbs as well as watching the Pros complete the full distance the day before. We will be based in Sanremo with a short hop to the start and finish of the 100km event and an ideal location to watch the Pros.

- Distance: ~100 km
- Location: starts & finishes in Sanremo
- Terrain: rolling coastal + short climbs
🗺️ Route highlights
Even though it’s shorter, it still includes iconic sections from the pro race:
- 🌊 Ligurian coastal roads
- ⛰️ Cipressa climb
- 🔥 Poggio di Sanremo (the famous final climb before the finish)
These are the decisive climbs in the pro race too — so you still get the “real experience” without the insane distance.
