We are always searching for new events in Italy (the place to ride !) and we have come across a gem. The Gran Fondo Livigno is a relatively new event for the Gran Fondo circuit , 2026 will be its 3rd year. The event offer two stunning routes 166km or 106km which we have detailed below. If you think the full distance is to much simply chip in with the 106km and have a great day out – we always say “there are no prizes for being wasted at the end of an event !” – enjoyment is key.
Where is Livigno you may ask , well it’s a town connected to via the Foscango Pass which comes in from Bormio , the home of the Stelvio Pass. It’s a stunning town with many climbs which may not be household names but challenging, it’s a location which has been used by the Giro d’italia. Here at European Cycle Events you can be comfortable in knowing that the events we attend and the hotels we stay at are of quality , something our customer are use to and look forward to.
This package is offered on a Bed and Breakfast only as the Hotel does not offer half board (HB) but you can opt to eat in the hotel from a-la-carte menu and have the charge added to your room bill or search out to one of the many places to eat in Livigno.
We will be based in a 4s Star Hotel in the centre of Livigno where quality is not compromised. We are offering two room options and they are detailed below.
Superior Room – two single beds are available 22 square meters size.
Deluxe Room – two single beds available are available – 29 square meters
The short route will start from the Aquagranda Sports Center in Livigno, then through the town centre reaching the Forcola Pass and crossing into Switzerland. From there, a scenic and technically demanding section leads to the Bernina Pass, including the final switchbacks. Your reward will be a descent through the Engadine Valley and a final crossing through the Munt La Schera tunnel, through Livigno Centre and the finish line at Mottolino retracing the iconic climb of the 2024 Giro d’Italia.
Distance covered :- 106.8km
Altitude gain :- 2050m
The long route steps things up somewhat with an extra 60km. The long route crosses the giants of the Rhaetian Alps, those being the Foscagno and the Eira Pass. After the start from Aquagranda at the center of Livigno, the challenge intensifies with the climb to the Umbrail Pass, located just 3km below the Stelvio. A spectacular descent towards Bormio follows, leading into the ascent of the Foscagno and Eira Passes. The final climb to Mottolino, retracing the iconic climb of the 2024 Giro d’Italia, brings this unforgettable and unique experience to a close.
Distance covered :- 166.8km
Altitude gain :- 4300m
