We are pleased to announce that we are the exclusive UK Tour Operator for Chase The Sun Italia. This event is billed as ‘the most romantic long distance cycle’ event! It remains the same classic concept coast to coast, sunrise to sunset, but with some additional Italian hospitality thrown in. We (European Cycle Events) will deliver our high standard of service to CTS riders whilst you ride. We specialise in Italy due to family contacts and you can see from our web site the locations we travel to thoughout the year to Italy, so you are in the right hands. Our service enables you to just ride your bike! The breathtaking scenery as you climb through the Tuscany hills to the sunset will create indelible memories of your continental Chase the Sun experience!
Chase the Sun is more than a simple bike ride.
It is a long-distance bicycle ride on the longest day of the year. It is NOT competitive. It’s a ride, not a race! It’s a self-sufficient coast-to-coast ride, from Cesenatico to Tirrenia, in full compliance with the rules of the road, from sunrise to sunset. Challenge yourself on a physical, motivational and navigational level. On a long and demanding ride, at your pace, across Italy, from one coast to the other. Start from the Adriatic coast, with the sun rising from the sea behind you and arrive on the Tyrrhenian coast, the sun in front of you, diving into the sea at sunset. It’s an awesome challenging experience you can take on!
You can participate in two ways: SOLO or in TEAM relay.
In the individual mode each participant completes the route alone. In the relay, you must form a team of 3 people, with at least one woman and the support of a car. The car will be driven in turn by one of three riders of the relay so that each of the members will ride 2/3 of the route (i.e. 180Kms as a whole), though not necessarily consecutive. The driver must assist the teammates and be available in case of requests from or need of other participants. The whole team must present itself at the start and at the finish line with all the three members.
Chase The Sun Italia is organised in accordance with international rules. In Italy, England, Ireland and Scotland, you start with the first light of dawn and you must arrive by sunset. There is no ranking, there are no medals. Only a finishers’ gift and the enormous satisfaction of being part of the SunChaser community.
We will give you advice and tips on how to approach the challenge but it’s with the other cyclists you meet and the special moments you live and share that will create the memory of the Chase the Sun unforgettable experience. Your behaviour on the road and in the Chase the Sun community will be part of your experience.

Basic Map / Route
Start – Cesenatico, Emilia Romagna (Adriatic coast)
04:35 Sunrise on the historic harbour front.
Start your journey viewing sunrise over the Adriatic coast in a beautiful harbour town, a place of unique Italian cultural heritage as the birthplace of iconic cyclist Marco Pantani, close to the apennine foothills.
Finish – Tirrenia Beachfront, Tuscany (Tirrenian coast)
21:30 Sunset at Hotel restaurant beach.
Savour a well-earned dip in the Mediterranean waters at sunset on the beach at the ride finish upon the coast near to Pisa. An evening of celebration food, drinks and rider’s stories awaits.
The Route
A magnificent coast to coast ride across Italy in a day. Depart from Pantani’s hometown of Cesenatico on the Adriatic sea, to reach the Tirrenia coast, east to west, from sunshine to sunset. The most romantic long-distance cycling challenge, climbing mountains, through vineyards and vistas, 280+ kilometers and 3300m elevation – Bellissimo.
Airport Transfers
Arrival In Italy
- Fly in Bologna – The Italian Organisers will be there to greet you and organise transfer to your hotel
- Coach Transfers , Transfer 1 leaves 18/6/2026 11:45 , Transfer 2 leaves 18/6/2026 16:45
- If you fail to meet either of these coach times you will be required to make your own way to your hotel.
Return back to the UK
Return to Pisa Airport on Sunday , coach leaves 10am from Tirrenia Bus station – 5 mins from the hotel
If you can not make the return time you will be required to make your own way to the airport you are departing from.
Medical Certificate
You will require a medical certificate to ride this event , you can book an appointment with your doctor and wait ages and then to be told he won’t do it or it will cost a small fortune or you could get one within circa 48 hours from our online partner doctor.

Cycle Licence
You will require a cycle licence to ride this event in Italy , there’s no need to worry about this as it’s included in your entry.
Bike Hire
Bike hire is available at this event and you can book it direct with the organiser at 299 euros , after you book you will get confirmation , and any questions should be directed to them as we (European Cycle Events do not off bike hire in any form or shape. please click here to book :- BIKE HIRE

Refund / Cancellation
The terms below are apply to CTS Italy and override our normal TC’s in relation to refunds
Deposit – £300.00 per person , this is only refunded less 10% – admin fee if you cancel within 28 days of your payment date , otherwise no refund.
Interim Payment – £300.00 per person by 31/1/2026 – if an interim payment is not made by the due date then your booking will automatically be cancelled with NO refund of previous payments. If you make the interim payment and cancel then providing you cancel within 28 days of the payment date you will be refunded this payment less 10% admin fee.
Final Payment – on/by 1/4/2026 – if the final payment is not made by the due date (1/4/2026) then your booking will be automatically be cancelled (even if a day late , late is lat ) and no refund of any previous payments will be made. If you make the final payment and then cancel the NO refund is given.
SPECIAL NOTE
If you are late paying the interim payment or the balance your booking will automatically be cancelled , should still wish to attend then your booking will be re-instated but a £50 admin fee will apply to your account.
If you book after 31/1/2026 then the deposit needs to be paid as does the interim payment.
