Now we have added the option of the Gravel Event on the same weekend !
The Stelvio earned its place in the hearts of the ‘tifosi’ as far back as 1953 when Fausto Coppi attacked Hugo Koblet before going on to win the stage and claim his fifth and final Giro win in Milan. The Mortirolo, Lance Armstrong reputedly said it was the hardest climb he had ever done, made its first appearance in the Giro in 1990, and is part of the long route Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini.
We have taken over 250 riders to experience the many emotions that these climbs have to offer. Dudley Samuels has personally climbed the Stelvio 11 times, and every time was even more exciting than the time before. The SteIvio awaits!
This, the greatest of the great Gran Fondos, starts and finishes in bella Bormio, in the Italian Alps, also know as the ‘Magnifica Terra’.
Our 4-star hotel perfectly placed, for the start / finish line in the heart of Bormio.
For the first timea gravel route is added, to explore dirt and agro-sylvo-pastoral roads in a still intact natural environment. Start and finish in Bormio, with two routes , 44 km with 1,400 m of elevation gain or 70 km with 2,000 m. Those who choose the long one face the climb to the Cancano Lakes via Boscopiano – the lake is AMAZING , a challenging but very impressive section. A trial that combines adventure, mountain air and freedom. As soon as we get pictures of the gravel climbs we will update this section, nevertheless trust me it’s amazing !
