Strada Bianche – Watch the mens and women’s Pro race and then tackle the white roads (Strada Bianche) of Siena Tuscany , don’t forget to save your legs for the last 2km which rises to 10% then ramps up to 18% and is laced with cycle fans encouraging you to reach the top before you round two bends and drop down into the square to the finish.
Ghent-Welelgum – This event start in 1934 and is one of the well known Belgium classics , it’s often referred to as the sprinters classic due to it’s finishing terrain. Just over 8 years ago the ladies started to ride this classic and the first winner was lizzie Armistead of the UK. It’s another event that has a Gran Fondo attached to it so we can experience what the Pros do.
Tour Flanders – The Tour of Flanders or Ronde van Vlaanderen, Belgium is one of the biggest Classic Cycling Events on the calendars if you are thinking about it don’t delay as it gets booked up quickly. Tour of Flanders is one of the top 5 classic in cycling and one of the two major cobbled events along with the famous Paris–Roubaix. Our weekend at the Tour of Flanders weekend will enable you to be in the thick of the action only 1km from the Koppenberg and a short 4km ride to the Oude Kwaremont! Walk or ride it’s up to you.
The will be a group ride available but if you want to do your own think we will not be offended. There are 4 distances including tar 237km full distance , but the most popular is 172km. The 172km route is our recommended it starts & finishes in Oudenaarde which makes life easy and contains all the key climbs and sections. There are With 16’000 riders and an amazing day out no matter which distance you take on.. Its the Pro Race on Sunday and we can give you advice on the best ways to see the race at various points.
Portugal 2021 – Fancy getting away to some early season riding in the sunshine than what better place than Portugal. This trip has been designed for circa 12-14 riders so we can all get to know each other and make new friends
We are heading to Albufeira in the Algarve which is a location where many pro teams can be found training in the early season, for many reason weather , locations , terrain, food nice hotels and great hospitality. If it’s good enough for the Pros the it’s good enough for us and you. Portugal has often been referred to as the new Spain but just better.
Paris-Roubaix 2021 – Known as the Queen of the Classics an amazing event no just to watch live but to ride. This event will lace you with pain and enjoyment as you cover circa 52km pave within the 170km ride the same the amount the pros will ride. This is one of the many events I have ridden and will never forget it for all the right reasons even though I erased on one of the pave sectors. So come along and ride the Gran Fondo and the following day what the pros.
Nove Colli – This event is often referred to as the Queen of The Gran Fondo’s and recently passed it’s 50th birthday in 2020 . The event is based Cesenatico which is not only Marco Pantani’s home town area but a magical place to ride your bike. The Nove Colli Gran Fondo is one of Italy’s original and oldest Gran Fondo events and people say it started Gran Fondo tradition. It’s name translated is 9 climbs if you were to taken on the long distance of circa 205km , but don’t worry there’s a 132km distance to taken on with 4 climbs , neither distance is a picnic. There’s 12,000 riders that take part and 12,000 different stories to tell at the end. When entries open online many people are disappointed as it sells out on 10 mins , yes 10 mins ! That’s one reason to join us as we will have entries as we are a UK tour operator. We will look after you from start to finish over your weekend leaving you to enjoy riding your bike.
Gran Fondo Squali – Translated means Gran Fondo Shark , as it raises money to save the shark ! – This event may not be as well know to some Brits but it has 3500 entries and a well organised event and a large superb Expo display. I rode this event in 2019 as research and can definitely recommend it. Our hotel is located 500 meters from the start, sign on and expo area. A challenging course with two distances to choose from and well organised. It finishes at the top of a short climb and very well sign posted to get back to the start circa 3km , which as mentioned is 500 meters from our hotel.
Giro d’Italia – Everybody has an opinion on which Gran Tour is thier favourite , well mine is the Giro d’Italia. It recently celebrated 100 years and is always exciting and magical, full of Italian excitement with superb drop backs of mountains. I have been lucky enough to attend it many times at various locations , when it has passed my aunties house , passed the hotel I am staying in and Pro teams staying in the same hotel as I am in – not to be missed. Our trip varies each year which is dependant upon the course.
Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini – The name says it all , what a superb event , I have ridden it 8 times and the eighth was as good as the first. The event has 3 different routes , so some something for everybody 60km , 131km and 151km. No matter which course you choose everybody will have the 21km climb to the top of the Stelvio Pass which will greets you with amazing views and you will have time to take them in as you ride up. The key difference between the 131km and 151km is the brutal and I mean brutal Mortirolo which is NO picnic. The event caters for circa 3500 riders and we are based 1km from the sign on and 500 meters from the start – PERFECTO!
Gran Fondo Sportful – We are the UK Official Tour Operator for this event and it’s often described as the hardest Gran Fondo in Europe. Riders come from far and wide to taken on these climbs and there’s never a shortage of entries . Riders can choose between two routes, both starting and finishing in Feltre and tackling Passo Croce d’Aune, site of the monument to Tullio Campagnolo (where the quick release was invented) , as the final climb before finishing in the charming Piazza Maggiore in the historic heart of the city. The “Cima Coppi” of the Sportful Dolomiti Race is the terrible Passo Manghen.
Cycling in the Prosecco Wine Region – (23/5/2021 – 28/5/2021) Well it’s obvious what’s abundant on this trip , Prosecco. I have been lucky enough to ride in this region for the past 20 years plus as my relatives live here. The terrain is very challenging in places but not as hard as the heart of the dolomites. There are three famous passes used by the Giro over the last couple of years , Monte Grappa (18km) Cal del Poggio (4km) and my favours Passo San Boldo (7km). This trip does NOT have a Gran Fondo attached to it that arrives later in the year. It’s a lovely enjoyable weekend to enjoy cycling and Prosecco Wine. The trip will be for 5 nights and includes a trip to the famous vineyard Villa Sandi and wine tasting.
Maratona – Well what can I say about this event ? – you have to be there , riders often say it’s their favourite event , I have customers who have been with me for the past 5 years and they love it. It’s a top quality event and has prime time live TV transmission. With 50,000 applications and 12,000 riders it’s an event that’s not easy to get into. As an official UK Tour Operator we are allocated 50 entries so book with us and you’re in. Nevertheless please note book early with us because we sell out quickly. We are based in Corvara the heart of the event and everywhere you look is stunning.
Stelvio Tre Modi – This will be in it’s first year in 2021 and FULLY organised, managed, supported by European Cycle Events , it’s OUR EVENT . With 3 feed stations, chip timing, prizes , broom wagon ,mechanic everything you would expect. The event translated means Stelvio Three Ways and yes it climbs the Stelvio three different ways. You may well be thinking where’s the third way , well it’s via Switzerland, the Umbrail , our aim is to make this an annual event , just like our UK Sportive is (The Spring Onion) – take a look at www.stelviotremodi.com for full details.
The Italian Job (Bormio) – Don’t fancy a weekend with a Gran Fondo then this is for you , have a relaxing non competitive weekend and enjoy the climbs and make new friends with a maximum group of 15. We are based in central Bormio 500 meters from the town centre at the 4 star Palace Hotel. We will have a great weekend which will enable us to take on as many of the following climbs as you like Stelvio, Gavia, Foscango, Concano,, Bormio 2000, Mortirolo – what a choice – mouth watering.
Gran Fondo Marco Pantani – We are an Official UK Tour Operator for the fantastic event – GF Marco Pantani. For those who do not know of Marco Pantani he is a legend in Italy and the last rider to complete the famous double of the Tour and Giro in the same year. The event is based along the Romagna Coast and has become synonymous with cycling – : amazing scenery and breathtaking paths and leads to the inner land to discover the real heart of this territory. This weekend is a double treat so to speak it’s not only a Gran Fondo but a Pro race with numerous top Pro Tour Teams. In 2019 top teams showed up such as , Barhein McClaren, Movistar, Dimension Data, Bora, Italian National Team, Androni Giocattoli Sidermec, Bardiani Csf, Nippo Fantini, just to name a few. If you don’t know who Marco Pantani is just google him , otherwise you will know this is a Gran Fondo NOT to be missed and once you have read about him you will be booking!
Gran Fondo Prosecco – was devised in 2003 to not only to celebrate the end of season wine harvest and celebrate everything Italian gastronomically, but to also attract a growing number of international cyclists and tourists to this beautiful area. Villa Sandi and De Rosa bikes are the primary sponsors. The end of race celebrations in Valdobbiadene’s piazza includes more Prosecco, tables of tasty bites and the evening’s pasta party is a riotous affair, not to be missed. I have personally ridden this event on 12 occasions and enjoyed it every time. The event is run in the region where my family live and I am familiar with the area that’s just one reason to join me in 2020 along with an excellent service.
Gran Fondo Firenze – This has been moved from its April date to September , at present the organisers are completely revamping the event , so when we have more information we will update this page and create a page for customers to book a fantastic trip.
Portugal – Fancy getting away to some late season riding in the sunshine than what better place than Portugal.
Portugal has often been referred to as the new Spain but just better – check out on youtube Tour Of Algarve for the area -amazing.
Gran Fondo il Lombardia – 2019 was the 113th edition of the Il Lombardia. The first edition of the Tour of Lombardy was called Milan-Milan, and took place in 1905. The route of the ‘classic of the dead leaves’ has been changed many times since those early days. Milan, Bergamo, Varese, Sesto San Giovanni, Monza and Como, all those places have seen starts as well as finishes of Il Lombardia. This trip combines two great events , a Gran Fondo and a Pro race – what a weekend !
