After great discussions with Lucia at Lungamare Hotel ,Cesenatico, Italy we are pleased to announce that we can offer a very special weeks trip “The Marco Pantani Week”. If you do not know who he is , I have only one thing to say ” where have you been.” Seriously though Marco is a legend in cycling world and in Cesenatico.
Cesenatico is Marco Pantani, and everything in his city speaks of him: the museum where his memorabilia is kept, the bronze statue that commemorates him. His legend was created as soon as he left the sea, on the climbs where you yourself can experience the same emotions. Our trip is from September 11th to 18th ( temp’ circa 14 > 25 degrees ) dedicated to Marco, to retrace the roads where he trained and to remember him worthily, you need not only a heart but also legs of steel !
Here is what the Pantani Week offers in detail:
- We’ll ride the same roads and climbs Marco used to train on.
- Together, we’ll climb the legendary Monte Carpegna, also known as “the Pirate’s Climb to the Sky” : 6.5 km with an average gradient of 10.5% and a maximum gradient of 18.5%.
- We will take you to the legendary Pantani Museum to see his original personal mementos.
- On September 12th , we will experience together the emotion of the Pantani Memorial , a race dedicated to him, with the finish in Cesenatico reserved for professionals and a pre-world championship test. In short, there will be no shortage of emotions for all of us who have Marco in our hearts.
Cesenatico is located on the Adriatic coast of Italy in the province of Forlì-Cesena in the region of Emilia-Romagna, about 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Ravenna. Cesenatico’s port canal was surveyed and drawn by Leonardo da Vinci at the request of Cesare Borgia , as part of his plans to fortify the nearby town of Cesena.
Hotel Lungomare is not only the perfect cyclist hotel but its in the perfect location. It’s the only 4 star hotel on the beach and cycle rides cut into the countryside at the turn of a wheel taking in breath taking scenery. Being partnered with Hotel Lungamare it gives us access to their famous 100 different routes – yes 100 different routes, something which is not publish on the web but a secret gem. There are rides for all abilities and varying distances with six different groups per day and you won’t ride the same route twice – unless you want to because it was so fantastic!

Bike fit is important for an enjoyable ride, this is why we need your size in order to recommend the right bike for you. The Hotel expert guides will make sure your bike is properly set to your body dimensions before the start of your tour. If you prefer to provide your own pedals, shoes and saddle, the mechanic will assist you with the adjustments. Alternatively, with a small daily cost, we can rent you shoes, pedals and saddle. We offer a variety of bicycle options to suit different riding styles. All bikes are maintained in top conditions, to ensure you the best riding experience for the customer.
And remember: at the end of your stay, if you have fallen in love with the bike you have rented, you can buy it! Buying the bike you rented is always a good idea: the prices we apply are very convenient and the rent is completely free for you!
